GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After decades in the making, a model ship of a historic Boston clipper is looking for a new home.
Gloucester resident Carol Linsky's late husband Tom spent more than 40 years working on the four-foot-long, three-foot-high model of the 1852 Boston Clipper ship "Sovereign of the Seas." Tom was a marine engineer and spent their entire marriage working on the model.
"It's probably about 95 percent done," said Linsky. "We were married in 1972 and he had already started it."
After Tom passed away in 2009, the model was put away until a few weeks ago when the J.M. Walsh Oil Company in Gloucester stopped by Linsky's house to do some heating work and stumbled upon it.

Linsky told the man that she was trying to find a good home for it. That's when the owner of J.M. Walsh volunteered to help.
The model is now sitting on display at the J.M. Walsh Oil Company business office while Linsky looks for someone to finish the model and give it a new home.
"We would really like to have it go to some kind of teaching institution so that somebody can learn the craft," said Linsky.
