ROSLINDALE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A unique fundraiser was held Sunday in Roslindale that was raising money to support people in the Boston community who have food insecurity.
It's called 'Empty Bowls' with a simple concept.
People bought tickets to attend the event that featured hundreds of hand-made bowls donated by local pottery studios.
Each bowl was filled with a delicious soup made and donated by local restaurants.
Event co-organizer Rick Henry said with each ticket of admission, people spent an hour at the event and got a bowl filled with soup to eat while keeping the bowl to take home. "Last year we raised $25,000," Rick said. "We're hoping to raise $40,0000 this year."
Organizers said $40,000 dollars can feed thousands of people for the next three months.
Proceeds benefit the Roslindale/Hyde Park Neighborhood Food Action Collaborative.
