ROSLINDALE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There were plenty of pastel colors on display at Adams Park in Roslindale Saturday as the neighborhood celebrated Holi.
The Hindu festival of colors marks the arrival of spring and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, as well as the victory of color and light over darkness.
Although India observed the holiday earlier in the week, collaborators Shanti Indian Cuisine and Roslindale Village Main Street decided to host the gathering on Saturday to attract a larger amount of people.

"It’s really a celebration of us, like, getting together and doing something fun and celebrating the color, which is a big part of our culture," said Shanti co-owner Rokeya Chowdhury.
Revelers enjoyed music, authentic Indian food from Shanti, and Bollywood dance lessons, but the main attraction was Holi's most famous tradition: throwing brightly colored powders all over each other.
"There is so much color and everyone happy and just having a good time," one attendee told WBZ NewsRadio.
