BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dozens of volunteers in Natick, Mass. rolled up their sleeves to help their community on Sunday morning.

The Big Leaf Rake is hosted by Keep Natick Beautiful, Natick Rotary, Natick Housing Authority and SPARK Kindness. Founder and President of Keep Natick Beautiful Pat Conaway led volunteers as they raked away leaves.

“There are 139 live oaks on this property, so they shed an enormous amount,” said Conaway. “We’re trying to spark people's interest in serving their community and doing acts of kindness that help everybody and they make people feel good.”

Michele Marotta with Spark Kindness said the event was part of the kick-off to the organization's Kindness Week.

“Oftentimes, the voices that divide us, they’re few, but they’re often much louder than the voices of kindness and connection, so this week is really an opportunity to shine a light on kindness," said Marotta.
