CAPE COD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Homeowners on Cape Cod's shorelines will soon be able to take part in a forum on relocating as coastal storms continue to get worse and destroy more properties.
Barnstable County will hold a "Coastal Homeowner Buyout Forum" next week, to outline federal assistance programs available for homeowners on the Cape. The programs are for homeowners that live in high-risk storm areas that may want to relocate.
The total loss of multiple waterfront homes this winter highlights the significant damage that homeowners on the Cape face from coastal storms.

In February, three homes in a Sandwich waterfront neighborhood were either destroyed or suffered extensive damage in a winter storm.
In addition, other properties across the Cape went through a similar experience this winter.
The forum is relevant to properties anywhere in a floodplain, not just coast or waterfront properties.
It will be held on April 21. via Zoom from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will be hosted by State Rep. Steve Xiarhos, State Senator Susan Moran and the Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners.
