BOSTON (WBZ News Radio) - High school fall sports are back on Monday across the Commonwealth. That includes sports such as high school football, volleyball, cheerleading, indoor track and unified basketball.
Lily Eldrige, a volleyball player at Danvers High School, said "anything that used to be normal...everything's changed," about the shifted season. Jason Tamayashi, a football player, says it will be strange to return to football without the "sights and smells of fall."
Newburyport Athletic Director Kyle Hodsdon says athletic directors have needed to make big adjustments in their routines.
"As athletic directors and as coaches, we're used to having some control of what we do," he said.
Changes also abound for student athletes, who will have no locker room culture to speak of this season with COVID-19 guidelines in place.
