BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The mantra at The Rink at 401 Park in Boston's Fenway neighborhood: Skate hard and fall gracefully.

The 6000 sq. ft. ice skating rink kicked off its first skate of the season Sunday with a disco theme.

"We are bringing the Studio 54 vibes," manager Brianne Gump told WBZ NewsRadio. "We have some of Boston’s top DJs that are going to be spinning all the best beats throughout the day. We have our friends from Bluey and Paw Patrol coming to hang out."

Skaters could also enjoy free waffles and cotton candy, face painting, and even an 80s attire thrift store on the other side of the boards.

"I haven’t skated in over a decade, so this is kind of a re-learning experience for me," one woman said.

A man visiting from Alaska said, "[It's] a lot of better than where I’m from, because we also skate on ponds, but there are no chips that will get you."

The rink is open Monday to Friday 3 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
