BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After 84 years, Suffolk Down is hosting the track’s final horse races this weekend.
Saturday was the second to the last day for races at Suffolk Downs. People came to say goodbye to the track.
Jackie Davis has been a jockey at the track for over four years.
“I’m going to be really really sad once this is over because this is home for me. And it’s a historical place. This is one of the first race tracks in the country and it’s going to be really sad to see it go,” Davis said.
Davis’ younger sister, Katie, is also a jockey.
“It’s a blast. She’s been riding a lot longer than I have, but it’s awesome to being able to ride with her where she actually started kinda, and did very well for herself here,” Katie said.
The real estate company who purchased the Suffolk Downs property plans to redevelop the land.
