BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It may look and feel like winter, but it smelled like summer in South Boston Saturday afternoon as the iconic Sullivan's Castle Island opened for the season.
Patrick from Dorchester was there well before the doors opened, waiting patiently outside for a muffin.
"I knew they were open today, but I thought they were opening at 8:30 a.m.," he said. "I'm half an hour early."
Director of Operations at Sullivan's, Kizito Paganini, said he loves seeing how much the little cafe on Castle Island means to the community.
"We have great stories, from guests buying lottery tickets for some of our managers, to people bringing baked goods every week for our staff," he said. "It's really neat."
And he wasn't kidding; soon after Kizito spoke to WBZ NewsRadio, Moreland from Quincy showed up with a bouquet of flowers for the workers at Sullivan's.
