Boston South Station Slashing Attack Sends Man To Hospital

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man is under arrest after allegedly attacking another man in the MBTA's South Station on Friday morning.

At around 6:30 A.M., Transit Police responded to a call in the commuter rail lobby at Boston's South Station after receiving reports of an assault. At the scene, officers found a man who had a non-life-threatening facial injury, according to MBTA Transit Police. He was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

People at the scene told police they saw two men arguing before one man attacked the other with an object unknown at this time.

The alleged attacker was later identified as Hocine Lounici, 38, a Medford resident. Lounici was placed under arrest and later transported to the MBTA Transit Police headquarters, according to MBTA Transit Police.

The incident is under investigation.
