DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There was no doubt which team was the fan favorite at the local pub the Banshee in Dorchester Friday afternoon.

Soccer fans yelled, "USA, USA, USA," cheering on their team at the 2022 World Cup England vs. USA men's soccer game.

"It's been eight long years for fans of the U.S. national team and we just couldn't be more excited," Garrett Quin, President of the American Outlaws Boston Chapter told WBZ's Mike Macklin.

The rowdy and passionate group of team USA fans drowned out the smaller but passionate group of team England fans sitting nearby at the Banshee.

"The World Cup's every four years, every game is either life or death," Team England fan Sam Toliday said. "I've been here 12 years, I think the NFL's great, but the World Cup England [versus] USA only happens once in a lifetime, means everything.

While the game was tied 0 to 0, fans still had a good time.

"If you're a fan of American soccer, you feel like you've lived in the shadow of England, so this game means a lot not just to Americans, but I think to American soccer fans in particular," Quin said.
