BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — While each state has its own favorite Christmas movie, five of six New England states seem to be on the same page. A new report by Scholaroo shows which holiday movies are the most popular in each state.

"Home Alone" is listed as Massachusetts' holiday favorite, followed by "The Grinch," "Falling for Christmas," "The Nutcracker," and "Elf" in last place. Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island all listed "Home Alone" as the most popular, leaving New Hampshire as the only New England state to put "The Grinch" first.

"I just saw "Home Alone 2" which was really silly," one woman told WBZ's James Rojas it was her first time watching the holiday favorite. "My children couldn't believe it was the first time."

23 states agreed that "The Grinch" was their favorite holiday movie, while 18 states said "Home Alone" was their favorite.

"I just love when the kid trumps the adults," one Massachusetts resident said. "A close second would be "Die Hard," I know some people say that is [a] Christmas-adjacent movie, but I feel like there's enough Christmas happening in the movie to put it on the list."

Each state's favorite Christmas movie was determined by digital trends this year. The Scholaroo data team analyzed the most searched holiday movies across each state in the United States.
