Lawrence House Party Shooting Leaves One Dead, Five Hospitalized

LAWRENCE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One person is dead and five are hospitalized after a shooting that broke out at a house party in Lawrence early Sunday.

At around 3 a.m., Lawrence Police arrived at an apartment at 5 Royal Street where they found six people suffering from gunshot wounds. Police reported to the home in response to a disturbance call, according to District Attorney Paul Tucker's office.

All six people were taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where one victim was pronounced dead. Their name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, investigators said.

Two of the victims were transported by medical helicopter to Boston area hospitals for additional treatment.

"Based on the initial investigation, the shootings are not believed to be a random act of violence," said D.A. Tucker.

Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Lawrence Police Department are investigating.
