SALEM, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — One New England state takes the cake when it comes to Christmas cheer. New Hampshire took the number one spot for Christmas spirit for the second year in a row, according to a new report by Century Link.

One New Hampshire resident named Judy told WBZ's Shari Small she wasn't surprised by the state's top ranking as she is full of Christmas spirit year-round, "It's just in me, I have to tap it down."

Donovan, a student at Woodbury Middle School, also believes the state is worthy of the title, as he tries to spread the Christmas spirit to his classmates.

"We're here for student council, we're doing a Yankee Swap," Donovan said. "Every student at the school gets one gift and we're shopping so we got a limited budget... everybody in the school gets a prize."

Vermont was also noted in the study as the state has had the most Christmas farms per capita in the United States for the past four years. When looking at online activity, Vermont also ranked first for having the most tweets related to Christmas.

The study determined each state's Christmas spirit ranking by evaluating Christmas-themed online activity within the last year and Christmas-related cultural markers.
