SAUGUS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Saugus roller rink was vandalized leaving hundreds of dollars' worth of damages, but the owner is confident the culprit won't get away with it.

The panic bar at the front entrance of Roller World, located off Route 1, was destroyed late Saturday night around closing time. The damages cost about a thousand dollars.

"It's so blatant you know, they didn't care about all the people who were walking by them," Gerry Breen, the owner of Roller World, said.

Breen told WBZ's James Rojas in the 40 years he has run the rink, he has never experienced property damage this bad.

Breen believes the person responsible stood on the bar, causing it to break in half.

He is waiting for security camera operators to go through his camera footage to help him catch the culprit. He plans to post a photo of them and is hopeful the public will be able to assist him in identifying them.

"Somebody will know them, if we get a picture of them someone will know him, know his name and everything," he said. "I mean you always find someone that will say 'hey that's so and so' you know."

Breen is also offering a cash reward for anyone that comes forward with information. He says there were people around during closing when the incident took place, so he is confident someone saw something.
