BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) --It could have been disastrous, but fortunately a Boston firefighter is okay after a ladder collapses under him early Thursday morning
As Boston Firefighters deployed a ladder from a tower unit ladder 10 to battle a house fire on Duke Street in Mattapan, that ladder collapsed.
Fire Commissioner Joe Finn tells WBZ-TV that a firefighter was on the ladder at the time.
“The [firefighter] who was up in the bucket was able to get enough time to get off the out of the bucket and on to the roof. If that bucket was not rested on a dome, that bucket would have come right down,” Finn said.
The firefighter was unhurt and officials say the truck is 13 years old – a spare truck being used because the usual truck being used was being repaired.
Crews were able to remove the ladder which was resting on the side of the building using a crane.
Everyone in the triple-decker building escaped safely.
The fire was knocked on quickly and everyone living in the triple-decker building esaped safely
Fifteen people are now displaced -- the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
