AMHERST, MA (WBZ-AM) -- - The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for parts Central Hampshire Central Franklin and Worcester counties in Western Massachusetts until 6:15PM Monday.
They say that at 5:34PM EDT, "a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Conway, or 10 miles north of Northampton, moving east at 55 mph." and that radar indicated possible rotation.
They predicct that the storm will be near the following locations:
near... Whately around 5:40 PM EDT.
Hadley, Sunderland and Hatfield around 5:45 PM EDT.
Amherst and Leverett around 5:50 PM EDT.
Shutesbury and Pelham around 5:55 PM EDT.
They advised that residents in the area should seek shelter by moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoiding windows.
If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
