BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Finally some relief for travelers on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Travel lanes had been reduced as part of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge replacement project. This morning, pike authorities restored all four lanes in both directions, 24 hours earlier than expected.
They say lanes on I-90 will be closed again as necessary during off-peak and overnight hours. Other travel impacts will remain through next week, including the closure of the Boston University Bridge, which re-opens to car and bus traffic on August 11.
The Bridge is still open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
