SHREWSBURY, MA (WBZ-AM)--Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker begins campaigning today for re-election to the corner office at his annual summer picnic in Shrewsbury. Baker announced last November that he would seek another term, along with his Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.
The Governor said he wanted to wait until the legislative session was over before turning to the business of campaigning.
He is being challenged in the September 4th republican primary by Scott Lively, a staunchly conservative Springfield pastor. The democratic gubernatorial primary is a contest between former Deval Patrick budget chief Jay Gonzalez and environmental activist Bob Massie.
