Man Airlifted From Cruise Ship Near Nantucket

BOSTON,MA (WBZ-AM)--A 78-year-old man was evacuated by the U.S. Coast Guard from a cruise ship near Nantucket on Saturday after a possible stroke. 

A passenger on board the Norwegian Escape reportedly suffered a stroke while at sea, forty nautical miles south of Nantucket. The U.S. Coast Guard received the call for help around 5pm and dispatched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod. The air and sea rescue crew arrived around 7:30pm and was able to hoist the patient and a nurse from the vessel and bring them to a Rhode Island hospital.

At last report the unidentified man's condition was stable.
