ROCKLAND, MA (WBZ-AM) — Rockland firefighters rescued two teenagers from a triple decker apartment building in Rockland that caught on fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a 16-year-old girl yelling for help from a third floor window. The girl was brought down a ladder to safety.

Inside, responders found a 19-year-old woman, also on the third floor, who was unable to find her way out because of the thick smoke. Firefighters helped her get out to safety.

Both individuals were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation. They are expected to recover.

An initial investigation shows the fire was likely accidental and started in the kitchen. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the flames.

Residents of all three apartments are displaced. The Red Cross is assisting.
