BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — The Dorchester YMCA is giving away 250 Thanksgiving turkeys for a fifth year in a row Saturday. Among the volunteers was Mayor Marty Walsh.

“It’s gratifying to be here today to see so many people working to give away turkeys. But it’s also — when you really think about it — the need is so great,” Walsh said.

YMCA executive director Andrew Baez said recipients were selected from among those known to be in need.

“You get a turkey, you get corn, you get potatoes, you get stuffing, you get the whole works. The only thing that is missing is pie. As a healthy living organization, we curb the pie,” Baez said.
