HARWICH, Mass. (WBZ-AM) — State police are investigating the death of a young child who came in contact with a piece of construction equipment.
The child was struck by a skid steer Saturday afternoon on Main Street in North Harwich.
Harwich Deputy Fire Chief David LeBlanc was one of the eight firefighters to respond to the call.
“On arrival, we had a child that had suffered critical injuries with the Harwich police and fire personnel on scene. The child was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” LeBlanc said. “Probably one of the worst calls you can go to in your career.”
LeBlanc said the firefighters are now processing their experience and extend their condolences to the family of the child.
