BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — The holiday season is beginning in Boston. Governor Charlie Baker and legislative leaders will be at the State House Monday afternoon to mark the beginning of Hanukkah, which starts Sunday at sundown, by helping to light an 18-foot menorah.

Also, Boston officials are seeking ideas for a competition — called “Play Around The Snowy City” — to make the cold and dark winter months more fun.

According to the Associated Press, two projects will be chosen that work to make public spaces more inviting, meet a budget of $5,000, and are temporary installations.

Proposals must be submitted by 9 p.m. on Dec. 13.
