CAMBRIDGE, MA (WBZ-AM) — Hunting and Berkshire Streets in Cambridge will remain closed until at least Tuesday morning after a fire ripped through two buildings in Monday leaving nearly two dozen people homeless.

The fire started in a building on Hunting Street but quickly spread to another home on Cambridge Street late Monday morning.

John Rollins lives in one of those buildings tells WBZ-TV he says neighbors were banging on the doors -- trying to get everyone out as the halls filled with smoke.

It took crews about three hours to knock that fire down.

No one was hurt, but the apartments were seriously damaged -- along with a long-time local business -- The Sunset Cafe.
