SJC Orders Child Rapist Wayne Chapman To Be Released Immediately

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The State's highest court has ordered convicted child rapist, Wayne Chapman, to be released immediately.

Thursday’s ruling says Chapman can no longer stay in civil commitment since he was ruled to not be sexually dangerous by two mental health professionals.

Chapman served time behind bars for decades for sexually assaulting six boys in the 1970's. He's been held on civil commitment ever since, after he was found to be sexually dangerous.

It's unclear whether Chapman has already posted bail in a separate case out of Ayer where he allegedly flashed staffers at MCI Shirley in June of 2018.
