New Boston Police Commissioner Placed On Administrative Leave

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston’s new police commissioner has been placed on administrative leave after domestic violence allegations from more than two decades ago recently resurfaced.

Dennis White was sworn in as police commissioner on Monday after former Commissioner William Gross retired last week.

Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long is now serving as acting-commissioner.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the allegations were "disturbing issues" and were not known to him or his staff when he appointed White for the position.

An outside counsel is investigating.
