BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Big changes are coming to Washington. On Thursday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she would be leaving Democratic leadership.

Now Massachusetts leaders are weighing in on her decision.

"She crashed through glass ceilings, settling an example for women all across the country, all across the world." Congressman Seth Moulton told WBZ's Nichole Davis. "By stepping down she's making room for a new generation of democrats, who are waiting in the wings and ready to lead and I think the American people will be excited about the next chapter in democratic leadership."

Moulton said he won't be running for a leadership role in the U.S. House.

He led an unsuccessful challenge to Pelosi's leadership after the 2018 midterm elections, saying it was time for a new generation of leadership. He was selected by Pelosi for a key conference committee in 2019. He also voted for her for House Speaker in 2020.

Moulton says he plans on teaching his daughters about her legacy and accomplishments when they're old enough to understand.
