Boston Officials Hold 2nd Holiday Ship Lighting Ceremony At Martin's Park

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Saturday, the Boston Police Department Harbor Unit ceremonially escorted both Santa Claus and the Grinch to the second annual Holiday Ship Lighting at Martin's Park in the Seaport District.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was in attendance along with multiple members of the BPD, including Commissioner Michael Cox.

According to the BPD, Martin's Park comes from a multi-year collaboration between the City of Boston, state officials, private businesses, and donations from the public. The park, located on the Smith Family Waterfront, was designed to be resistant to the climate and one of a kind in Boston.

Martin Park is named after Martin Richard for his kind spirit— Richard died in the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013.
