STOUGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Saturday afternoon, the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office announced an arrest had been made in connection to the murder of a woman in Stoughton.

Officials say 39-year-old Victor Carter was taken into police custody on an arrest warrant at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City by transit, New York, and New Jersey state police. Police accuse Carter of murdering Amber Buckner, who was found dead in an outbuilding on Park Street in Stoughton on Tuesday.

Shortly following the body's discovery, Norfolk DA Michael Morrissey said during a press conference that Buckner had "suffered significant injuries."

“Stoughton Police and the Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Detective Unit have been working non-stop to collect evidence and intelligence in this case. When probable cause was met to obtain the warrant, we began working with the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) of the Massachusetts State Police and law enforcement partners in the region," Morrissey said.

According to police, Carter has recent addresses in Stoughton and Brockton and has his first court appearance in New York, after which he'll appear in Stoughton District Court at a later date.
