BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The holiday travel rush is on to get out while you still can as a major winter storm is expected to impact airport hubs across the country, with the potential for cancelations and delays across the board.

Much of the country from the Midwest, southern U.S., Central Plains, Southeast and Eastern Seaboard are expected to get some sort of winter weather. Here in Boston, we aren't expecting any spectacular winter weather, but passengers flying from Logan airport will likely feel the impacts as other cities deal with wind, ice and snow.

At Logan airport Wednesday morning, most passengers tell us they felt lucky moving through those long lines.

If you're sticking around New England for the holidays, it won't be all smooth sailing.

By Wednesday evening, the clouds will move in, with temperatures bottoming out in the upper 20s. Thursday will be slightly warmer with temperatures in the middle 40s. We could see some rain later in the day.

Friday we're expecting rain and potentially damaging winds. By Friday evening as the storm dissipates, we could see ice on the roads, which will continue into Saturday morning. That means the roads will be slick, so if you're heading out Saturday morning, drive carefully.

While our Christmas won't be white, it will be freezing cold with highs set in the upper 20s.

Remember to check your flight status before leaving for the airport.
