Former NBA star J.R. Smith and Flash actress Candice Patton welcomed a baby boy, according to a post shared on Patton's Instagram account Friday (September 27).
"Son in Virgo. Born at home. Heart now beats outside of my chest. In love forevermore 💕👣," Patton wrote, along with a carousel of photos and a video with Smith's account tagged.
Smith, 39, is still legally married to Shirley 'Jewel' Smith, who shared a post on her Instagram account in October 2019 claiming that the two-time NBA champion was having an affair with Patton.
“God, I would like to lift my husband up and ask you … to please just cover him with your blood,” Shirley said at the time.
“My husband, he’s hurting and Candice, Lord Father God, she’s hurting,” she added.
J.R. shared a post on his Instagram story in response to the allegations claiming he and his wife had been "separated for months" at time time.
"IG ain't a place for relationships!! But God told me to tell y'all I've been separated for months He doesn't understand why his child failed to mention that...#THATSALL," he wrote.
J.R. and Shirley were married in August 2016 and share two children. The former University of North Carolina standout played for five teams during his 16 NBA seasons, which included winning two NBA championships with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and Los Angeles Lakers during his final season in 2020.
