BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A four-year-old is in critical condition after falling out of the fourth-floor window at a home in Dorchester Wednesday.

Boston Police said they got a call at around 3:17 p.m. Wednesday about a child injured on the sidewalk of a home on American Legion Highway. The child was then immediately taken to the hospital with "serious, life-threatening injuries."

Police initially identified the child as an infant, but later said the child was in fact four-years-old.

Boston Police Detective Felipe Colon said the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office along with the Boston Police Homicide Division, detectives, and members of the crimes against children division are all investigating the incident.
