A Mysterious Humming Noise Is Keeping Peabody Residents Awake

PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — People in a residential Peabody neighborhood say a mysterious humming is keeping them awake in the dead of night.

Residents around the Rousselot Gelatin plant off of Washington Street said the noises usually start after midnight when everyone is asleep.

Marie is a resident who says strange noises have come out of the plant before, but this is definitely the worst.

"We haven't really noticed a whole lot with the other, she said. "It's disturbing when you're not used to it." But unfortunately for the neighbors around the plant, they have been getting used to it: they say the noise has been going on all year.

"It's just absolutely horrendous, I hate it," said another neighbor. Noise complaints have been submitted, and neighbors in the area say they've complained to the Peabody City Council.

Rousselot has yet to make a public statement on the situation. WBZ NewsRadio has reached out for comment.
