BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Save the Harbor/Save the Bay has called Boston beaches some the cleanest city-based beaches in the entire country, just in time for summer to begin.

The non-profit compiled data collected by the DCR for their annual Water Quality Report Card. They found that all of our local metropolitan beaches scored above 80%, the first time our beaches have done so well.

Beaches such as Nantasket, Carson, M Street and Revere reportedly rank the highest in cleanliness with quality levels of 95-100%, while the Nahant and Lynn beaches have shown massive improvements compared to years past, landing between a 90-95% quality level thanks to their new UV treatment program that's recently been implemented.

Beachgoers in Revere are already thrilled by the reports, saying how they appreciate the efforts being put in to keep the beaches and water clean. Debra from Cambridge felt that more can still be done though.

“If you come here in the summer, there’s a lot of trash still, so it would help if people did their part and took their stuff,” she said.

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay's full impact report for this past year can be found here and the full water quality report can be found here.
