BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Monday, Boston Police Department officers say they found a body inside a Roxbury high-rise apartment, and say that an on-scene suspect tried to dive out of a building window despite being twelve stories up.

Responding officers were called to the address to do a wellbeing check, where they knocked several times on the apartment door and identified themselves. Still after repeated attempts, officers heard nothing in response. Once officers found their way inside the apartment, they discovered a victim.

Soon after Boston SWAT officers moved through the door, they were met with "a physical threat" from an individual who was inside the apartment. According to the BPD, officers tried using de-escalation tactics and "use of less lethal force," calling for assistance as arriving authorities believed they were in danger.

The suspect allegedly dove out the window, but became snagged and hung from the windowsill until police could pull him back inside from the floor below. Officials say they brought the suspect to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
