Cambridge Police Arrest Suspect In Kidnapping Of Two Girls

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man, facing two counts of kidnapping in an incident involving two preteen sisters, is scheduled to appear in Cambridge District Court Tuesday.

Cambridge Police said they arrested suspect Lionel Ivan Brathwaite Jr., 52, around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Brathwaite, who police said is homeless, allegedly approached the two girls on Pearl Street while intoxicated, according to Cambridge Police Deputy Superintendent Jack Albert.

“He did grab one of them and tried to bring them into an alley, according to the victims,” Albert said.

The two girls were able to break free and flee the scene, according to Albert.
