BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Of the 25 most sought-after high schools in the country, seven are in Massachusetts, according to the for-profit online test prep company, Test Innovators. The company compiled a list of 2018’s most competitive high schools in the nation.
Test Innovators analyzed data from approximately 15,000 students who used their technology to prepare for admission exams, such as the SSAT and ISEE.
Test Innovators CEO and founder Edan Shahar said the number one desire destination of the 15,000 students was Phillips Academy in Andover.
“Massachusetts is the state that is best represented on this list,” Shahar said.
Boston Latin School in Boston ranked sixth. Milton Academy in Milton ranked seventh. Deerfield Academy in Deerfield ranked eighth. Noble and Greenough School in Dedham ranked tenth. Boston Latin Academy in Boston ranked eleventh. Buckingham Browne and Nichols in Cambridge ranked fifteenth.
According to Shahar, the majority of the students come from the United States and Canada. This is followed by China and Hong Kong, and then South Korea.
“A lot of the Chinese students are interested, eventually, in going to American universities. And they realize that coming in to an American high school is going to help their application,” Shahar said.
