Dilapidated Cambridge Triple-Decker Goes For $2.3 Million

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — How much would you pay for the Cambridge house pictured above? The number in mind probably pales in comparison to what it sold for: $2.3 million.

The Cambridge triple-decker at 127 Western Avenue has smashed windows, graffitied walls, and its rotted shingles have half fallen to the ground. A tarp covers the roof, and a sign on the property from the city's Inspectional Services Department says the building is unsafe to live in.

The roughly 4,500-square foot, three-family house was originally built in 1854.

Neighbors in the area told WBZ NewsRadio's Matt Shearer (@MattWBZ) they were shocked the house could command that much money. Neighbors refer to it as the local "haunted house."

"I want to see what the inside condition of the house is like," said one resident. "I absolutely do not want to go inside" she said, when asked.
