QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Amidst the usual bustling traffic of Southern Artery in Quincy, residents can hear the sounds of a demolition.
The longtime police station that stood on the corner of Southern Artery and Sea Street is being torn down for good. Considered a piece of history, the old police station was built in 1925 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mike, who lives in Houghs Neck, said he thinks "redevelopment of the area" is a "good thing."

"Higher density in a city location like this is probably good," he said.
What will replace the old station? Some residents say they hope it's not another building.
"I don't think that they should put industrial anything here. It should be family," one local said. "Multi-use, multi-purpose, family-oriented."
Once the debris clears and this project is complete, a green space will be constructed for public use,
