ROXBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Celtic Jaylen Brown's 7uice Foundation held a educational fair today at the Yawkey Boys & Girls Club of Roxbury.
Representatives from major New England colleges and universities, as well as some Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) from all across the country, made their way to the fair to give kids a wide variety of schools to learn about, as well as potential career paths. Parents were given an opportunity to go to a seminar that highlighted the changing job market so they could help their kids on this future journey.
7uice foundation president and Jaylen's mom Mechalle Brown said that she hopes to give kids the tools to choose whatever path they want to purse.
“If you want a four-year degree, that's great. We want you to do that, but if there's something else that you would like, certifications, we have that route too,” Brown said. “We're being the bridge to give the resources and be able to blend. Our signature program is called 'The Bridge,' and it's STEM and STEAM focused. So this here is so amazing for me to see it live in-person.”
Brown also mentioned how important getting the parents on the same page was for their children's futures.
“Being able to get the parents to understand what programming is available for their children, it could be generational and change things for generations to come,” she said.

Community organizations like The Museum of Science were also at the fair with a planetarium and robot display. Chess and NBA 2K tournaments were also held to inject some fun activities into the fair's education forward approach.

Executive Director Corey Manning said how excited he was for so many to experience this fun and fulfilling energy in the Club area.
“This encompasses what I envision and what this club has been about for the five generations of families that have come through here," Manning said. “It is amazing to see the young people, the adults, and everybody really enjoying themselves the way this space should be enjoyed.”
Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll was walking around the fair, saying how much Jaylen Brown and his foundation means to Greater Boston.
“How lucky are we to have Jaylen Brown playing for the Celtics, but even more importantly, giving back to the community in such a meaningful way,” Driscoll said.
