HINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Natick man is facing charges in connection to a deadly crash at an Apple Store in Hingham on Monday.

Police arrested Bradley Rein Monday night and charged him with reckless homicide by motor vehicle in connection to the crash that killed a man from New Jersey and injured about 20 other people, some of which suffered life-threatening injuries.

Rein made an initial court appearance in Hingham District Court Tuesday and was ordered held on $100,000 bail, not to operate a motor vehicle, and to not leave the state without permission. He pleaded not guilty and will be back in court on Dec. 12.

Prosecutors said Rein told police his foot got stuck on the accelerator while he was driving by the shops and was unable to stop the vehicle, despite using his left foot on the brake. Rein added he had no medical or mechanical issues with the car prior to the incident and said he had consumed alcohol or drugs. Prosecutors said Rein's breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol content was zero.

Rein had no prior criminal record in Massachusetts, but the prosecution did note he had been charged with driving under the influence in December 2020 in Vermont, but that charge was later dropped. Rein's attorney asked for $20,000 to $50,000 bail and called the incident an "unfortunate accident."

The crash remains under investigation.
