BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's that wonderful time of year where the holiday gift giving ramps up— and Massachusetts First Lady Lauren Baker is taking a moment to put the limelight on children that have been impacted by trauma, abuse, and neglect as Vice Chair of the Wonderfund.

Baker told WBZ's Carl Stevens that the nonprofit Wonderfund is working to provide more than 50,000 kids and teenagers with holiday gifts this season.

"Every year the Wonderfund does this massive holiday gift drive— these kids have had to endure some pretty tough stuff in their lives like abuse and neglect. For many of these kids, the holiday gifts that they get through the Wonderfund are the only gifts that they'll get this season," Baker said.

Representatives at Wonderfund are urging anyone capable to donate and share a bit of that holiday magic. Baker started the Wonderfund in 2017 to provide gifts to the thousands of young people in the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families system and their holiday gift drive only grows every year.

"We think it's really important that every child, every teenager, who's engaged with DCF, get a gift of their own this season," Baker said.
