GRAFTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An off-duty Massachusetts State Police trooper has died after getting into a motorcycle crash in Grafton.
Trooper Jacob Mick was off-duty when he was killed in a motorcycle crash, the State Police confirmed on Facebook. According to the Worcester County District Attorney, Mick was riding his motorcycle on Providence Road in Grafton when he collided with another car. He died at the scene and the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
State Police said Mick was 31 years old and became a trooper after graduating from the State Police Academy in 2023. He was from Northboro and is survived by his wife and infant daughter.
"He was a proud Trooper and public servant who never hesitated to answer the call. We remember and honor Trooper Mick’s years of service, and all he gave to the Commonwealth as well as to the Department," said State Police Superintendent Col. Geoffrey Noble in a statement posted on Facebook.
Mick's death comes a little more than a month after another trooper, Kevin Trainor, was killed in a wrong-way crash with another driver on Route 1 in Lynnfield.
