BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —The NAACP announced that Boston will host the 111th national convention in 2020.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said in a statement he is incredibly proud that Boston has been selected to host next year’s convention, and that the organization’s choice is a “real testament to Boston’s commitment to achieving racial equity for all and becoming and place that is more inclusive of everyone.”

Boston is home to one of the association’s earliest conferences in 1911. The organization said the Boston branch remains one of the strongest in the nation.
