MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Medford dancer has been entertaining traffic — usually, wearing just his underwear.
Alex Rich-Shea usually dances in the middle of busy Wellington Circle, between three and five days a week. He said his reception has become better the more time he's been dancing.
"It really has gotten more positive the more skillful I have become," he said.
Rich-Shea wore a mask to go along with his underwear during the pandemic, but it's since come off. Rich-Shea calls himself the "Gay Rabbi" because he came out while attending an Orthodox Jewish private school.
Rich-Shea's said his public near-nudity has gotten him into trouble with the law, saying he'd been arrested in Boston.
"Me dancing in my underwear...isn't a public disturbance," he said, saying it's a free speech issue. "I had been threatened with being arrested so many times for so many months, I just kind of wanted to see what it was like," said Rich-Shea.
