BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Would you like some cheese with your wine? National Drink Wine Day fell on Wednesday, but not everyone planned to partake in the holiday— it is a weekday after all.
WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas asked residents in Dewey Square what their favorite wine was, but many didn't have an answer.
"I don't drink, so I don't have an answer for that," one said.
"Mostly water, I'm not a big alcohol drinker," said another.
For those that did drink wine, most said they tend to stick to a similar type.
"Red dry wine, I switch back and forth, but I try to go for something that's a little less sugary," one said.
Mario, a Central Mass. resident, said he doesn't drink wine, but his girlfriend is "a big fan, she loves pinot grigio.”
He said he's noticed how wine trends have changed over the years. "Before it used to be a bottle, now there's a box where you get 3 bottles, and they make a smaller [one]," Mario said.
Canned wine has also grown in popularity over recent years, but some wine drinkers haven't given it a chance. "I have not, it's usually the bottle," one said.
With the growing trend of younger people drinking less alcohol than previous generations, days like this one may mean less to many.
