WRENTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new traffic light at the beginning of the on-ramp to I-495 near Wrentham Outlets is causing commotion and frustration among drivers.
The light and crosswalk are intended for pedestrians, according to State Representative Marcus Vaughn on a Facebook post about the signal configuration.
“The design is intended to allow pedestrians to safely cross the ramps while traffic is stopped,” Vaughn said in the post. “So, while some of the lights may currently look like they are sitting in unusual or random locations.”
The post garnered criticism from those opposing the light.
“There’s no pedestrians walking down here,” Bob, a frequent driver in the area, said. “If there were going to be [any], it would be in front of the Wrentham Outlets, which there is right now but you don’t need it down the road at an on ramp.”
WBZ NewsRadio has reached out to Vaughn for comment.
