BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Prior to Super Bowl LX, New England Patriots fans were giving their predictions on the outcome.
College student Porter was out getting prepped for the big game and had a good feeling about his home team.
“I think Drake Maye’s going to throw for three touchdowns, and the Pats are going to take it 27-24, and we’re all going to take the streets,” said Porter. “I mean were the best sports city in the world, it's just par for the course for the city.”
Several bars were packed early on Sunday with people settling in to watch the Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks. Many were confident, some even long before the Pats qualified for the Super Bowl, like Robert.
“On Oct. 15, I put 100 bucks that says they win the Super Bowl,” said Robert.
Robert said he placed the bet, which now has a $4,100 payout, after feeling nostalgic from the win for the Patriots against the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
“It just seems so familiar in such a close time for me, that I'm just like ‘Why not?’” said Robert.
While the party is on for Sunday, Monday is looking like a slower day, with a new survey finding that around 26 million people plan to call out of work for the day after the Super Bowl. Lucy is one of those people.
“I work remotely, and none of my supervisors will be listening to this because they don’t live in Boston,” said Lucy. “Yes, I will not be working [tomorrow].”
