Police: Grenade Found At Chelsea Apartment Building Was Inert

CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police said they removed potentially explosive powder at an apartment building in Chelsea on Monday. Earlier, authorities found a grenade at a residence in the building, which was later determined to be inert. The building was evacuated after the device was initially found.

 

The apartment building is located on Revere Beach Parkway. According to Massachusetts State Police, Route 16 West at Webster Avenue was closed due to the evacuation.

Authorities said the inert grenade was found when police were doing a well being check at the residence.
